A bomb blast near the Gojar-e-Syed Abad mosque in the northeastern Afghan province of Kunduz has killed at least two people. At least 50 people were killed in the incident.
The bomber struck shortly after noon on Friday (October 8th) during Friday prayers.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said in a tweet that a bomb had exploded at the Gojar-e-Syed Abad mosque. A large number of our compatriots have been martyred and injured. Our security forces and administration are working.
Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman Saeed Khosti confirmed the blast. However, it was not immediately clear who was involved in the attack.
The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a mosque in the capital, Kabul. The terrorist group Islamic State has claimed responsibility for several of these attacks.
